Carnivore.

"List."

Em judged the word.

Beneath this Em scribbled the date.
Below the date:

Cow Milk 2.69
Cheerios (2 Boxes) 6.50
Chicken (three pounds breasts no legs) 6.99
Gin (handle) 21.00
Juice (2 cartons) 4.75
Tonic (3 liters) 3.50
Wheat Thins (1 box) 2.99
Dreyers (1 quart) 2.19
Mama Celeste (3 for 2) 4.00
Bread (wonder) 2.00
Cigarettes (Cheapest) 2.90
Bologna (kosher?) 3.00
Summer Wine (2003) 8.99
12 pack coors (on sale) 6.99

She thought of putting something witty at the bottom of the list, like "silence" or "personal validation," but couldn't find a way to get her point across. She gave up and took a red marker to scrawl at the bottom of the page in neat letters:

Tampons (heavy) 8.00
Ginseng (small bottle) 6.00

She paperclipped three twenties to the paisley printed paper and left it on the table for Abe.

It's like trying to explain how to diagram a misremembered sentence. Or asking someone to be a little less pretentious.
